No More Mom Guilt

So here’s the deal: even though we all deal with “mom guilt,” we really don’t have to. See, in Isaiah 6:7, Isaiah experiences a touch from heaven that wipes away his guilt and sin.

The Bible says that when we become a believer in Christ’s finished work on the cross, we are a new creation.  We don’t have to live in constant guilt anymore.  Maybe you feel like you’ve really messed up. Maybe you have legitimate regrets.  Don’t fret, sweet Momma!  Pour your heart out to Him (He already knows!) and let Him remove it as far as the east is from the west. {Psalm 103:12} His strength is made perfect in our weakness {2 Cor. 12:9} and He is thrilled when we rely on His strength alone.  We can’t be perfect moms, ever.  But He’s a perfect Father, and we don’t have to struggle with despair, anxiety, and fear of messing our kids up.  He is hoping that we will hit our knees with every mom guilt, stress, worry, and fear and let Him carry it all.  His lovingkindness knows no limit–He can be trusted with all of our motherhood struggles.  Give it to Him and let Him wipe away every mom guilt you struggle with.

Could I pray with you, right now?  Like we’re sitting across from one another on the couch in my living room, sipping coffee, and sharing our hearts?

Father,

We need Your help desperately.  We aren’t even decent moms in our own strength.  We know that You gave us these precious souls to raise and nurture, and we fall short daily.  Guilt and regrets swirl around in our thoughts and threaten to overwhelm our hearts.  We sometimes feel paralyzed by the feeling of failure.  Revive our hearts, God.  Take our shortcomings, and replace them with Your great grace.  Fill us up with Your love, so that we overflow onto our children.  Teach us that You are the best parent, and help us to see that we will never have a better model to follow than the longsuffering and mercy You show us, Your daughters.  As we go forward, free from guilt and shame, we will walk in the promise that You have removed our sins and guilt as far as the east is from the west.

Thank you, Father.  In your precious Son’s Name,

Amen.
